Meditation

"When the purity of the Self, mind, intellect, and awareness is the same, absolute Self-knowledge prevails."

Patanjali´s Yoga-Sutra 3:56

  • Slowing of biologic aging processes.
  • Functional improvement of the body´s organs and systems.
  • Alertness and higher energy levels.

Meditation-Routine

Regularly - Your expectation supports the meditation experience

  • Meditate regularly, at the same time, in the same place.
  • Have a comfortable chair that will allow you to be relaxed and attentive.
  • Early morning, after getting up is best way to start the day.
  • Be relaxed but attentive.
  • Turn off the phone.
  • Be aware of why you meditate and what you do.
  • You can have a simple altar with images of spiritual role models, saints, or items that inspire your devotion.
  • Set it up as you feel comfortable.
  • Have a specific meditation routine that is effective and enjoyable.

"Focus your attention within. You will experience new power, new strength, and peace in body, mind, and spirit. All limitations will be vanquished."

Just Meditate

20 minutes of concentrated meditation is better than longer inattentive sessions!

  • "Sit upright, in a comfortable chair. If a cross-legged sitting posture is more comfortable for you, sit like that.
  • It can be helpful to acknowledge your relationship with the Infinite. If you want to pray to become aware of God´s presence, do so. If you are an initiated disciple of an enlightenment path, acknowledge the teachers and saints of your tradition. Let their prayers on your behalf and your reverent respect for them inspire you as you meditate.
  • Poised and alert, direct your attention to the spiritual eye center between your eyebrows. It is not necessary to strain to do this; just have your awareness focused there.
  • Observe your natural breathing rhythm. Let it flow easily. If using a one-word mantra, mentally recite it when you breathe in; feel peaceful when you breathe out. (Optional: recite the mantra only when you exhale. Experiment until you discover which method produces the most favorable results.) With a word-phrase mantra, mentally recite the first word when you inhale; recite the second word when you exhale. With either mantra, as you become more internalized, mentally listen to the mantra rather than recite it.
  • When you are relaxed and internalized, disregard the mantra and rest in the calm, alert state for the duration of the session.
  • To conclude your practice: open your eyes, remain calmly poised for a few moments, then resume your normal activities."

"Spiritual growth is authentic or real when the effects of its transformative influences are evident in our lives. " ... "It should be understood that although knowledge and practice of meditation methods is important, everything that is done to nurture total well-being and to live effectively is of equal importance. At each stage of progressive awakening to authentic Self- and God-knowledge, the devotee´s new state of awareness must be harmoniously integrated with the mind, personality, and body. This process is most effectively accomplished by appropriate, conscious living."
